What Happens if You Don't Change the Cabin Air Filter?

How to Change a Cabin Air Filter

It's straightforward, generally the same whether in a Lexus LS or ES model, a GX, a GS, or otherwise. Consult your owner's manual, but generally, do the following:

1. Open your vehicle's glove compartment.
2. Locate a pin and screw on its outer edge.
3. Using a screwdriver, remove the screw and set it aside.
4. Then, remove the pin and save it. You may also have to release a band (some glove compartments have them to hold them in place).
5. Gently press both sides of the glove compartment and lower it.
6. Locate a cover behind it; that's the cabin filter cover, with a housing behind it.
7. Release the cover: squeeze the tabs on either side of it.
8. Remove the cover.
9. The cabin filter is behind the cover. Take the filter out.
10. Clean the filter housing (that's what the filter's installed in).
11. Put the new cabin filter in.
12. Snap the filter cover back in place.
13. Put the glove compartment back in its original position, put the pin and/or band back in, and replace the screw.
14. Close the glove compartment.
