What are Some Common Problems with Lexus LS 430?

Faulty Audio

LS 430 models from between 2001 and 2006 have premium Mark Levinson stereo systems. They can have volume problems -- notably, either no sound at all sometimes, or an increase to max volume without you even adjusting it. If your car's got 100,000 miles or more on it these days, chances are that you've either had the problem already, or you will eventually.

The fix: a revised amplifier. Swap your old one out, and you should be good to go.

Bad Transmissions

If your LS 430 has just more than 120,000 miles on it, and you're having trouble shifting at low speeds, there's a good chance it's because you need a software update. Models from between '01 and '06 had this issue. Get yours "flashed" or reprogrammed at a Lexus dealer, and it should solve the problem. If it doesn't, you may need a transmission replacement.

Defective Fuel Tanks

2005 and earlier LS 430 models (those with a little more than 100,000 miles these days) have a known issue where their gas tanks may not be able to be filled up all the way. The issue's with the fuel filler neck; replace that, and it should go away.
